Botanical Sketchbooking
In this workshop you will reconnect with nature by delving into the intricacies of botanical illustration. Through a series of drawing explorations, you will gain a greater understanding of what you see and how to portray it accurately. These explorations will include the geometry and structure of a plant; the use of line, tone and colour to create form; methods of creating perspective and the elements of composition. Numerous ways of keeping a botanical sketchbook will be discussed and demonstrated along with page layout and fun ways to create text. You will be guided through the techniques of graphite, pen and ink, coloured pencil, watercolour and field sketching. This workshop is suitable for beginners with a passion for plants and for those with some botanical experience.
