Joe was raised in England, got a degree in English from Cambridge University, taught English in range of countries, then came to New Zealand in 1987. Since 1997 he’s been a full-time professional writer and is the author of over twenty books and several thousand newspaper columns.

Course Outline

The course is for anyone who wants to write better.

Whatever you’re writing - novel, Facebook post, letter, memoir - the fundamentals of good writing don’t change.

We’ll study examples of all sorts of writing, good and bad, with a view to working out what those fundamentals are, and then we’ll try to put them into practice. It should be both illuminating and fun.
